Back in November of 2001, comedian Felipe Esparza convinced Que
Locos producer Roger Paul to put Martin Moreno on the popular
Latino standup comedy show. The call was not a mistake, but a
discovery of the next great Latino comedian. Moreno exploded on
Que Locos, dazzling the crowd with his many unexpected punch lines
and masterful stage presence. "He did and unbelievable job,"
raved Que Locos host Mike Robles.
Moreno's performance
on the show has already paid off. He has gotten the nod to host
the very popular comedy show at Tortilla's in Montebello. This
club is a who's who of great comedians. Gabriel Iglesias, Alonzo
Boden, Willie Barcena and Larry Omaha all gig it at Tortilla's
on a regular basis. Moreno has also been asked to bring his funny
bone on the road for the Que Locos Live Tour. He will be touring
with the best Latino comics in show business throughout the year
to cities around the country. "I just can't believe where
I am," said Moreno.
Not too bad
for a guy, who started comedy just a couple of years ago at a
small cafe called "The One Eyed Parrot," which isn't
even open anymore and only held about 30 people. "I knew
the minute I saw this guy that he was going all the way,"
said fellow friend and comedian Pat Leborio. Leborio's manager
had a similar comment after seeing Moreno for the first time.
"I first saw him at the Ice House in Pasadena and quickly
realized I was watching a future star." boasted Jason Hoffman
of the prestigious Christopher Wright Management firm in Burbank.
There is something
very real about the Latino comedian, who grew up in Los Angeles'
South Bay. Moreno comes across to the audience as an honest guy
with an extremely interesting life. "Moreno is outstanding
with any crowd in any venue," said Jeff Jena, manger of the
Improv in Irvine.
Keep your
eyes and ears open people! Martine Moreno is a comedian on the
yellow brick road to fame and fortune. He has the whole package
and can deliver it to anybody, anywhere and anytime. In fact,
he may be delivering it at a city near you. Just look for the
well-dressed guy with the sharp wit and witness the growth of
a monster comedy career.
